General Surgery

General surgery is a surgical discipline that focuses on abdominal and pelvic contents including the small intestine, large intestine, appendix and hernias, among other areas. Surgeons who practice general surgery are highly skilled specialists who employ a wide range of knowledge and skills to perform surgery, often in emergency situations. They typically operate on common abdominal complaints including appendicitis, hernias and intestinal problems.
Mr Rasheed is a Consultant Surgeon at The Royal Marsden. He was trained through the prestigious North West London Deanery training programme and undertook higher surgical training at St Mark’s Hospital, London. He also was selected to undertake the highly competitive Ethicon Laparoscopic Fellowship during which he furthered his training in Laparoscopic and Robotic surgery at Frimley Park Hospital and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was awarded his PhD by Imperial College London on Colorectal Cancer in work undertaken at St Mark’s Hospital in conjunction with the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and The Weatherall Institute, Oxford.
He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, has lectured nationally and internationally and has authored chapters in surgical textbooks. He is currently a senior Editor for the surgical textbook, Clinical Surgery due to be published later this year.
He is the global Medical Director of the NGO Humanity First and is the Executive Director of Inspiral Health through which he leads on various Global Health programmes and projects in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). He has led on numerous international disaster response operations and has developed and led on numerous Disaster Response courses run in the UK, USA and Canada. He is also working on a training course for Crisis Management and Leadership.
He offers a range of General Surgery and Colorectal diagnostics and treatments and offers telephone and video consultations.
