Bleeding from the bottom is a fairly common symptom and is caused by a number of things. It can be frightening to see blood either mixed in with the poo, separate from the poo or on the toilet paper after wiping. The commonest causes of this are haemorrhoids (piles), anal fissure (a tear in the lining of the bottom), an anal fistula or inflammatory bowel disease but it could also mean something like a polyp or a cancer in the colon or rectum. If this is noticed then it does need to be checked out for early diagnosis and treatment.
